Privacy Policy

This policy describes what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The QSBS File is an organizational tool. It is not a law firm, a CPA, or tax or legal advice. The operator of qsbsfile.com is The QSBS File. There is no separate LLC name on this page yet.

What we collect

Account. Email address, name if you give one, and sign-in data through Clerk (magic link or one-time code). Clerk handles authentication. If you later add a phone number for notifications, we store that too.

Interview answers and your file. Situation (sold, about to sell, rolled proceeds, or getting organized), company names, share and sale dates, whether a tax return is filed, checklist items, notes, and the documents you upload into the evidence file. Uploads are stored as files (Vercel Blob) with a checksum in our database. If you create a share link for an advisor, we store a hash of that link, not the raw token.

Technical. Hosting and security logs (IP address, device or browser, timestamps, cookies needed to keep you signed in). The site is hosted on Vercel. Domain DNS is on Cloudflare.

We do not ask for payment information, and we do not run ads on the public site.

What we use it for

• Creating and signing you into your account
• Building and showing your evidence file, checklist, and deadlines
• Optional email we send about your file (for example a weekly digest, if that is on)
• Operating, securing, and debugging the service

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

Service providers who run the product: Clerk (authentication), Vercel (hosting and file storage), Cloudflare (DNS), and Resend (transactional email, when digest mail is enabled). A Postgres database stores your account and file records. They process data to provide those services.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the service or someone's safety. We do not share your file with a tax advisor unless you create a share link and send it yourself.

How long we keep it

We keep account and file data while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterward if we need it for security, backups, or legal obligations. Email info@qsbsfile.com to ask us to delete your account and file.

Tax law often requires you to keep records for years after a sale. Deleting your QSBS File does not change what you are required to keep for the IRS or your advisor.

Your choices

• Access or update information in your account
• Request a copy, or deletion, at info@qsbsfile.com (put “Privacy request” in the subject)
• Stop using the service and close the account

Do not upload documents you do not have the right to store.

Children

This service is for adults dealing with business-stock tax records. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
